Resurrection of Fukushima

Organizational Purpose

1. Activity Purpose

Due to the Great East Japan Earthquake along with tsunami and atomic plant accident which gave great impact on our society, not only in Japan but also in Asia or even in the whole world, our mind was totally shaken from the foundation. Significant number of the lives were lost and peaceful everyday life was uprooted from the people at the area stricken by the disaster. As the reality of the situation has been gradually revealed, the difficulties in the road to future re-establishment have become evident.

Further, the human disaster which ended up in one of the world’s worst nuclear accident in the history of the modern science and technology is still in a chaos where the end is not within the purview. As the term for making technical attempts toward the end extends substantially long, the health damages on the workers should continue increasing.

Moreover billions of residents in a wide range within several tens kilometers from the nuclear plant are forced evacuation over a long term and so are deprived of their bases of human life. They are also losing their connections with and traditions in their families and their communities.

The accident in TEPCO (Tokyo Electric Power Company) Fukushima Daiichi atomic power plant was a result of the atomic-energy policy over the years proceeded by the Japanese government. It is also apparent that the accident was a human disaster caused guilty of Atomic Energy Commission, Nuclear Safety Commission, Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency, TEPCO, the professionals in the technical field, related industry and also of mass media and commentariat.

We are now in the beginning of the 21st century in Fukushima suffering from triple difficulties: two from the nature, the great power of the earthquake and the tsunami; and one from the human, atomic power accident which is a defeat brought by our ego that human beings can readily control the nature. Starting from here we should learn humbly in front of the power of the nature and should sustain efforts to resume the act of the air, the soil, the water, the sea, the plants and the animals which constitute the nature and the activities of the human beings, all in the manner how they should have been originally.

In this regard it is necessary to gather the individuals who take the disaster as their own issue, the learned in the field of Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries and Cattle Breeding and people who have a variety of techniques in observation and analysis of the nature in order to work for and learn with the residents toward the resurrection of the original nature and the lives of human beings in coexistence with the nature.

Through the activities, we wish to watch the decommissioning plan of the atomic plant over a long term. We also wish to be by the side and watch the nature until it finally resumes its original state and the course of the re-establishment of the communities.
